Commemorating National Youth Day on 12 January 2026, the Government of India has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment by highlighting the National AI Literacy Program and its flagship course YUVA AI FOR ALL. Rooted in Swami Vivekananda’s vision of enlightened and empowered youth, the initiative equips India’s young population with essential skills to thrive responsibly in an Artificial Intelligence-driven future.

The programme was officially launched at the Rajasthan Regional AI Impact Summit in Jaipur on 6 January 2026 by Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics & IT, Railways and Information & Broadcasting, and Shri Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Electronics & IT and Commerce & Industry. The initiative aligns closely with the national vision of Viksit Bharat, expansion of Digital Public Infrastructure, and India’s commitment to inclusive, ethical and democratic AI adoption.

YUVA AI FOR ALL: Making AI a Core Life Skill

At the heart of the National AI Literacy Program is the YUVA AI FOR ALL foundational course, designed to make AI literacy a basic life skill for citizens, especially the youth. With a total learning time of just over four hours, the course serves as an inclusive entry point into AI education and requires no prior technical background.

The curriculum provides a comprehensive yet accessible understanding of AI and covers:

  • What is Artificial Intelligence

  • Technology behind Artificial Intelligence

  • Using AI to learn, create, think and plan

  • Ethics of Artificial Intelligence

  • The future of Artificial Intelligence

This structured approach ensures that learners not only understand AI concepts but also develop the ability to use AI responsibly and productively in everyday life.

Government Vision: AI Literacy as a National Movement

Highlighting the importance of collective AI learning, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasised that citizens—particularly the youth—must understand how AI works, where it is used, and how it should be applied responsibly. He noted that small-scale enterprises and entrepreneurs stand to gain significantly from AI adoption by improving productivity and decision-making.

With this vision, the Government has set an ambitious goal of mobilising 10 lakh learners within the next one year through the National AI Literacy Program, making it one of the largest AI awareness initiatives in the country.

Inclusive, Multilingual and Free Access

To ensure nationwide reach and inclusivity, the YUVA AI FOR ALL course will be available free of cost in 11 Indian languages:
Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.

The course is hosted on leading government and ed-tech platforms including FutureSkills Prime, iGOT Karmayogi, DIKSHA, and other popular digital learning portals. Upon successful completion, learners receive an official certificate issued by the Government of India, adding credibility and recognition to their AI literacy credentials.

Building Responsible AI Citizens for Viksit Bharat

YUVA AI FOR ALL is envisioned not as a one-time awareness initiative, but as the foundation of a sustained, scalable and inclusive AI literacy movement. By coordinating efforts across ministries, state governments, educational institutions, industry partners and digital platforms, the programme seeks to empower citizens, promote responsible innovation, and strengthen India’s leadership in AI for public good.

As India moves steadily towards becoming a Viksit Bharat, initiatives like YUVA AI FOR ALL ensure that technological progress remains people-centric, ethical and inclusive—placing the power of AI knowledge directly in the hands of the youth.
