The second day of World Food India 2025, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, witnessed significant developments that reinforced India’s vision of becoming the global food basket of the future. With over ₹1 lakh crore worth of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed across the first two days, the summit has emerged as a powerful platform for global collaboration, investment, and innovation in the food processing sector.

Strategic Participation from States and Nations

Day two of the summit saw active engagement from partner and focus states including Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Jharkhand, and Bihar, as well as international participation from countries such as New Zealand, Vietnam, Japan, and Russia. Sessions hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ministry of AYUSH, APEDA, and the World Bank further strengthened cross-sectoral and global partnerships.

Knowledge Sessions and Sectoral Dialogues

Over 25+ knowledge sessions were conducted across the first two days, engaging a wide spectrum of stakeholders from the food processing and allied industries. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) hosted thirteen sessions covering diverse themes including:

  • The five focus pillars of World Food India 2025

  • Pet food, nutraceuticals, and specialty foods

  • Alcoholic beverages and plant-based foods

These discussions highlighted the need for sustainable practices, cutting-edge technology, and investment-driven innovation to transform India’s food processing landscape.

MoUs and Investment Commitments

On Day 2 alone, 21 companies signed MoUs worth over ₹25,000 crore, taking the cumulative investment value across Day 1 and Day 2 to over ₹1 lakh crore. These investments reaffirm India’s status as a receptive, investment-ready destination in the global food processing sector.

Additionally, government-to-government meetings were held with Russia and Portugal, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation in agriculture and food processing.

Parallel International Events

World Food India 2025 also played host to two prestigious parallel events:

  • 3rd Global Food Regulators Summit by FSSAI – providing a platform for global regulators to deliberate on harmonising food safety standards and enhancing regulatory cooperation.

  • 24th India International Seafood Show (IISS) by the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI) – highlighting India’s growing seafood export potential and building stronger global trade linkages.

Driving India’s Transition from Food Security to Nutrition Security

The summit emphasised the importance of innovation, technology transfer, and knowledge sharing in advancing India’s food processing sector. By urging stakeholders to invest in emerging areas such as plant-based foods, nutraceuticals, and specialty products, World Food India 2025 showcased India’s transition from a food-secure nation to one that champions nutrition security and sustainability.

With high-level participation from global regulators, industry leaders, startups, and policymakers, the event reinforced India’s leadership in shaping the future of global food systems.
