The Sansad Khel Mahotsav 2025-East Delhi, a flagship initiative dedicated to promoting local sporting talent and physical fitness, was inaugurated today at the East Vinod Nagar Sports Complex. The event was graced by Shri Harsh Malhotra, Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road Transport & Highways, as the Chief Guest, along with Ravinder Singh Negi, MLA Patparganj, and other dignitaries and officials.
Promoting Sports Culture at the Grassroots Level
In his inaugural address, Shri Harsh Malhotra emphasized the importance of cultivating a strong sporting culture at the grassroots, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’. He noted that sports not only foster physical fitness but also instill discipline, teamwork, and resilience among youth—qualities essential for nation-building.
Highlighting the overwhelming participation of young athletes, Shri Malhotra remarked that their enthusiasm and energy reflect India’s growing sporting spirit. The Minister underlined that the Sansad Khel Mahotsav is more than a sports event—it is a platform to identify, nurture, and promote genuine sporting talent from the local level to the national stage. By providing structured opportunities for young athletes, the initiative aims to create pathways for their participation in district, state, and national-level competitions.
Shri Malhotra also reiterated the five S’s of Sports—Speed, Stamina, Skill, Strength, and Spirit, stressing that Spirit is the greatest of all. He said this spirit of perseverance and sportsmanship drives athletes to achieve excellence and inspires the nation as a whole.
Linking with Khelo Bharat Niti 2025
Referring to the recently introduced Khelo Bharat Niti 2025, the Minister explained that this national policy aims to reshape India’s sporting ecosystem by investing in sports infrastructure, training programs, and athlete welfare. The initiative seeks to empower citizens through sports, positioning India as a global sporting powerhouse.
Equal Importance to Sports, Education, and Culture
Shri Harsh Malhotra stressed that sports must be given equal importance as education and culture, as they together contribute to the holistic development of individuals and society. He highlighted how events like the Sansad Khel Mahotsav inspire youth to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle while fostering unity, discipline, and a sense of community.
Wide Range of Sports and Inclusive Participation
The Sansad Khel Mahotsav 2025 will host 11 competitions across diverse disciplines including athletics, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, wrestling, and football, among others. The event ensures equal participation for boys and girls across various age categories, promoting inclusivity and gender equality in sports.

Concluding his address, Shri Harsh Malhotra urged schools, colleges, sports clubs, and local athletes to participate enthusiastically and make the Mahotsav a grand success.
