The Maharashtra government has taken a significant step towards revolutionising the education system by signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Khan Academy and Sri Sri Rural Development Trust (SSRDT). The agreements, signed in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, aim to provide quality, technology-driven, and engaging learning experiences for students across the state.

Focus on Technology-Driven and Learner-Centric Education
The initiative is designed to make classrooms more interactive while ensuring strong foundational learning in mathematics and science. It also aims to promote holistic development through modernised teaching methodologies and infrastructure upgrades. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasised that these collaborations will nurture talent and spark curiosity among young learners.

Dr Jayant Narlikar Maths and Science Learning Enhancement Programme
In collaboration with Khan Academy, the state will introduce the ‘Dr Jayant Narlikar Maths and Science Learning Enhancement Programme’ for students from grades 1 to 10. This programme will provide curriculum-aligned content in both Marathi and English, with a focus on strengthening conceptual understanding. The platform will offer self-paced, video-based modules, ensuring that students can learn at their own speed while deepening their subject knowledge.

The initiative will be rolled out over a three-year period by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

Experiential Learning with Sri Sri Rural Development Trust
The MoU with SSRDT, a part of the Art of Living Foundation, will implement experiential learning models in 150 government schools across Maharashtra. The programme includes:

  • School development planning

  • Teacher training programmes

  • Student capacity building

  • Infrastructure enhancement

  • Stronger community participation

This initiative will focus on model schools identified under the National Education Policy (NEP) ‘School Complex’ concept, including PM Shri and CM Shri schools. The rural trust will specifically work on improving learning outcomes, strengthening the school ecosystem, and fostering holistic growth.

Transforming Education for the Future
These partnerships highlight Maharashtra’s commitment to equipping students with 21st-century skills while strengthening the foundation of STEM education. By combining technology, community engagement, and innovative teaching practices, the state aims to build a sustainable and progressive education ecosystem.
