The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) inaugurated the GST & Customs Pavilion at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The Pavilion was opened by Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Chairman, CBIC, along with senior Members of the Board. This year’s theme, “Next-Gen GST: सरल कर, खुशहाल राष्ट्र”, reflects the government’s vision of building a simplified, transparent and citizen-friendly tax system powered by digital innovation.
A Vision for Simplified, Technology-Driven Tax Administration
The Pavilion’s theme underscores ongoing efforts to ease compliance, lower the tax burden on essential goods and foster a business-friendly environment. It aligns with the larger IITF theme, “एक भारत, श्रेष्ठ भारत”, symbolizing national unity and progress through efficient governance.
During the inauguration, the Chairman highlighted India’s transformational GST and Customs journey, emphasizing the shift toward digitalisation, transparency and ease of doing business. He shared that the “Next-Gen GST” reforms rest on three pillars — Structural Reforms, Rate Rationalisation and Ease of Living — all aimed at enhancing affordability and simplifying tax processes for citizens and businesses.
He also urged visitors to exercise caution and avoid sharing identity documents with unauthorized individuals, noting the rise in fraud using the name of GST or Customs.
Showcasing GST Bachat Utsav and Citizen Benefits
The Pavilion has been designed to create awareness about reforms under the GST Bachat Utsav, helping visitors understand how new initiatives can maximize savings, simplify registrations and improve compliance.
The setup serves as a comprehensive and interactive platform for taxpayers, students, industry professionals and the general public to learn about policy changes, digital tools and taxpayer facilitation measures introduced by CBIC.
